What Volunteers Do

Our volunteers help provide the transportation needed for a positive and engaged lifestyle. Medical appointments, grocery shopping, a play or concert, a bridge game or book club – all are done door-to-door and arm-in-arm.

Volunteers also use their time and talents in members’ homes – a weekly visit, help with gardening, reading and walking together, getting trash to the curb, and other neighborly needs.

​

There are also many volunteer opportunities by being on the Neighborhood Falmouth team: being on a committee, helping in the office, or helping with our wide variety of events. We have an activity that matches your interests and talents!

OUR GREATEST VOLUNTEER NEED IS TRANSPORTATION!

There are many things you can do to help our members and the NF organization:

​Helping Members Directly​
​​

  • Transportation: drive members to medical and other appointments, grocery store, social and community events

  • Well-being Activities: going for a walk, checking-in visits in person or via daily/weekly phone calls

  • Household Accounting Assistance: help with basic household finances such as paying bills and balancing checkbook 

  • Social Activities: keeping someone company, playing cards, reading, meeting for lunch

  • Food at Home: bring in some food and eat together, shop for prepared foods, help connect with food delivery services

  • Technology Assistance: help with electronics such as computers, cell phones, tablets, remote controls, thermostats

  • Home Organization: help organize cabinets, closets, and clothing 

  • Home Monitoring: keep an eye on someone's house when they are on vacation or during other absences

  • Light Home Maintenance: help with trash, smoke detector batteries, screens and AC units, closet and fridge cleanup

  • Light Yard Maintenance: yard cleanups, filling bird feeders, moving outdoor furniture

  • Pet Care: care for pets during an emergency or temporarily when member cannot care for a pet

  • Running Errands: shopping for groceries, picking up dry cleaning, etc

Helping the NF Organization

  • Join a Neighborhood Falmouth Committee

  • Be part of team to help with special projects

  • Help update social media and NF website

  • Assist in the NF office: answer phones, paper work, filing
