What Neighborhood Falmouth Volunteers Do

Our volunteers make it possible for members to stay active, connected, and independent. Whether it’s a ride to a medical appointment, the grocery store, a concert, book club, or bridge game — we provide door-to-door, arm-in-arm support that brings joy and confidence to everyday life.

Volunteers also lend a helping hand at home — sharing friendly visits, doing light gardening, reading or walking together, taking out the trash, or helping with other simple neighborly tasks that mean so much.

Prefer to help behind the scenes? You can support our work by joining a Neighborhood Falmouth committee, assisting in the office, or helping plan special events.

Whatever your interests or skills, there’s a place for you here!

Helping Members Directly

We are flexible in the many ways we assist members and encourage requests of all kinds. Here are just a few examples of how our volunteers make a difference:

Transportation

Provide rides to medical or personal appointments, the grocery store, or social and community events.

Errands

Shop for groceries or supplies, pick up dry cleaning, or ship packages.

Well-Being Activities

Accompany a member for a walk, stop by for a friendly visit, or make regular check-in calls.

Social Activities

Keep members company by chatting, playing cards, reading, doing puzzles, or meeting for lunch.

Food at Home

Shop for prepared foods or help connect members with local meal or grocery delivery services.

Technology Assistance

Help set up or troubleshoot devices such as computers, cell phones, tablets, wearable devices, remote controls, or thermostats.

Home Organization

Assist with organizing cabinets, closets, clothing, or other small household projects.

Home Monitoring

Check on a member’s home when they are away.

Light Home Maintenance

Assist with tasks such as changing smoke detector batteries, cleaning a refrigerator, or helping with window screens, AC units, or trash removal.

Light Yard Maintenance

Offer simple spring or fall cleanups, refill bird feeders, or move outdoor furniture.

Pet Care

Provide short-term pet care when a member is temporarily unable to do so.

Helping the Neighborhood Falmouth Organization

Volunteering doesn’t always mean direct member service — there are plenty of other ways to contribute!

  • Join a Neighborhood Falmouth committee to help plan events or projects.

  • Participate in special projects that support our programs.

  • Help maintain and update our social media presence.

  • Assist in the Neighborhood Falmouth office — answering phones, helping with mailings, or organizing paperwork.
