Volunteering
A dedicated corps of volunteers is the heart of Neighborhood Falmouth and we always welcome more to our thriving organization. We rely on our volunteers to help our members stay connected with the community and live safely and comfortably in their own homes.
Volunteers provide transportation to stores, medical or other personal appointments, and social events; they also enjoy visiting our members and helping in their homes.
We have a flexible scheduling system that makes it easy to sign up for assignments based on your own availability and interests. There is no pressure or weekly commitment, and we welcome both snowbirds and summer residents.
How to Become a Volunteer
The process is simple: download our application and drop it by the office in Queens Buyway, email us at volunteer@neighborhoodfalmouth.org, or send to us at 115 Palmer Ave., Unit 2A, Falmouth, MA 02540.
For the protection of our members, every volunteer must pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) background check, at Neighborhood Falmouth's expense. Volunteers who work in the Neighborhood Falmouth office may be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement.
After submitting a volunteer application, our Volunteer Services Manager will schedule an in-person meeting to talk to you about about your areas of interest, provide a brief training session on our scheduling software, procedures, and policies. She will introduce you to our staff and answer any questions you may have about volunteering, and you will be provided with our Volunteer Handbook. Neighborhood Falmouth can, if you prefer, provide you with a volunteer mentor to answer questions or help you resolve any issues that may occur.
Throughout the year, volunteers are provided additional support through Volunteer Resource Reviews, which offer a chance to learn about local resources, as well as the chance to meet other volunteers. We also hold volunteer appreciation luncheons in the spring and fall, and each month throughout the year, both members and volunteers have the opportunity to meet and socialize at our Member-Volunteer lunches, which are held at local restaurants.
